2020: Nizi Project[]
Sakurai Miu auditioned at the Nagoya Heat of Nizi Project and made her first appearance on the show on "Part 1 #1-1". She was accepted but later was eliminated, ranking at #10 in the Vocal Evaluations of Episodes 5-6[2] and #17 in the Dance Evaluations of Episodes 4-5.[3]
2021: Girls Planet 999[]
In May 2021, Sakurai Miu was seen at the Incheon International Airport. [1] Then, both of her Instagram accounts were deleted, confirming fans' suspicions of her being a contestant on the show. [4]
PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS[]
Miu was revealed as the center of the show's signal song "Leap High ~Asu e, meiipai` (明日へ、めいっぱい)" and was published on September 2nd. The series itself is all about 101 trainees fighting for their spot in the debut group. Only 11 girls out of 101 can get to debut. Miu finished the competion in 4th place, making her a part of the group ME:I.
